Diversity Management in Workplace
Diversity Management in Workplace
Introduction
Diversity management is a critical aspect of Human Resource
Management (HRM) that focuses on creating an inclusive work environment where
individuals from diverse backgrounds feel valued, respected, and empowered to
contribute their unique perspectives and talents.
Types of Diversity Management
Intranational diversity management
Managing a workforce made up of
citizens or immigrants within a single country is known as intranational
diversity management. The goal of diversity initiatives is to give recent
immigrants and members of underrepresented groups job opportunities.
Cross-national diversity management
Managing an international or cross-national workforce of
people is known as cross-national diversity management. Immigrants looking for
work from other nations might also be involved.
Advantages of Diversity Management Program
Diversity can be used as a kind of strategy to give a company a competitive edge in the highly competitive market.
- Improved and enhanced competencies in terms of customer services.
- Able to compile and improve the strength of customer intelligence.
- Ability to operate effectively as well as efficiently in a global context
- Able to produce more satisfied workforce, and thus leading to more productive workforce
- Effective managing of diversity enables reduction in industrial disputes
- Diverse workforce can lead to increased creativity and innovation
- Having better chance to attract higher quality employees from a larger pool of employees
Just as harmful to the organization as excessively integrated
homogenous units can be poorly integrated heterogeneous groupings. It seems
that managing diversity is an art, and while it can have a positive impact on a
company's strategic management picture, it is not always straightforward to
execute. Furthermore, regrettably, there is evidence that diversity can have a
negative impact on businesses.
